It's soooooooo kick ass. I have a corner disability single with my own HUGE bathroom, four window, and a really enormous room. It's the largest in the building except MAYBE an RA room. I'm so happy to be back in Gilchrist... I've missed this building. The new girls seem to be nice so far but they can't figure out how to open the doors.... which is annoying when I live right next to a door. My RA is so cute. She covered my door with japanese stuff and a tiny little kimono. I love that I have a crafty RA. . . it's the way to be... Ok, i'm going to go be bored now. -Ali Current mood:  tired.
Yay!!! After 13 weeks of classes that I mostly disdaned, I'm home. For two weeks. That's how much time I get til I start a bunch of new classes. But I'm really looking forward to sleeping, relaxing, and seeing my friends. Friends that you were in high school with are so different from those you make in college. Any time I need a cofidant, I still turn to Chris, Steph, and Scott. They are amazing. Okay, I must get some of the laundry I brought home started. Wow, I don't think I've updated this more than once my first year here. Well, I'm finished with first year classes. Once I'm done with finals, I'll have 67 credits (which is crazy for a first year because that is junior status). I've got two finals, tons of tutoring (i'm tutoring a blind peer in public policy), a project, and more packing, and then I'm out of here.... .... for 7 days. Yeah, a lot of people have grandiose summer plans; I'm staying in Tallahassee. I am going home for a week, and my family is getting a condo at disney for the break. Then, it is back to school. This summer, I'm taking Theatre Backstage crew (required), sign language 1, the american presidency (which my favorite teacher is teachign), intro to comparitive government, play analysis, dynamic earth, and the dynamic earth lab. I will be home again August 6th- 20th... Then I am back to school again. In the fall, I'm taking Sign Language 2, Stage Management, British Government, World Theatre History I, Honors Environmental Science and global change, and performance I. It's so wierd to reflect on the past year... So much has changed. Now I'm packing and sorting, and throwing things away. Like, I threw away a roll of kerry/edwards stickers... Yeah... too much has changed... Current mood:  nostalgic.
I'm not coming home for spring break...Anyone have any other ideas? I'm going to see if they close the dorms. If not, maybe I'll just stay in my dorm... Lemme know if you have any ideas. -Ali I just saw the film Kinsey and it sparked an idea from me. Why does society place so much emphasis on the idea of societial institutions? On the way home, the question of political office arose. If one has all of the correct criteria to run for a position, why do the American people (and this probably also pertains to other civilizations)insist on looking at extraneous details? For example, if a devoted citizen who was unmarried ran for a public office that his or her constitutions regarded as heavily important, would the fact that the candidate was unmarried hurt her chances at such office? Yes, unfortunately it would. Too much emphasis is placed on the idea of the nuclear family. Women are expected to have and want children. She and her husband are supposed to have 2.4 children, a cocker-spaniel, and a home with a white picket fence. I would go further into it and the stupidity of such dependance on such institutions, but I'm tired. It is just dumb that when votes for a person, one is voting for her character and family as well. May I just remind all of you that one of the best rulers of all time was indeed unmarried? This ruler engaged in sex but never married. This individual placed high emphasis on science, literature, and art as vital facets to perserving society. This person's legacy is still felt today in the nation the individual served. Who is this person? Queen Elizabeth I. Enough. Goodnight. Current mood:  infuriated.
Okay, so I'm doing well right now. Grades were posted last night, and I made Dean's List. My tech teacher rounded and I got an A in my writing class. YAY! Plus, in the spring, I'll be asked to join Phi Eta Sigma (freshman honors society). It makes me smile. Also, tonight I go back to work. I've missed money, and I've missed working (to moderate degree). I just hope I don't get lost tonight. I'm trying to run through my table numbers... I'll probably mess up a little bit, but I think I'm working, not training, tonight. Tomorrow Scott comes home. Tomorrow I go visit my old teachers. Life is just content right now. A little too laid back at times, but content. Current mood:  good.
Okay, so grades are starting to roll in.... They will all be posted on Thursday. So far, it looks like this: Class Credits Class Is Grade GPA Points it Earns Me THE2020- Intro to Theatre (3) A (12) Intro to Tech Theatre--- 89.8 (if she is a bitch, it is a B, if not an A) Honors Ethics (3) A- (11.4) MINUSES SUCK Math (3) C+ (6.6) Theatre Usher Crew (1) A (4) Now, I'm still waiting on ENC3310 (my writing class where I'm with all juniors and seniors). I think it will be an A. So if I get A's in Writing and Tech (if she isn't a bitch and rounds), then I'll have a 3.625 for my first semester at college... If I get a B in tech, it is going to be 3.4375... Ugh... that is the differance between an honors society and being on dean's list and getting nothing... I really hope my tech teacher gives it to me and that I get an A in writing (which I should).... I'm nervous... I found my phone so call me, bitches...
